Mahant Rohit Shastri, President of Shri Kailakh Jyotish and Vedic Sansthan Trust, called on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha in Srinagar on Monday and briefed him about the annual Kailakh Sanskrit Ratna Award Ceremony scheduled to be held in December.
During the meeting, Mahant Rohit Shastri apprised the Lieutenant Governor of the preparations and objectives of the forthcoming ceremony, which aims to recognise contributions towards the promotion and preservation of Sanskrit language, Vedic knowledge and India’s rich cultural heritage. The annual awards serve as a platform to acknowledge individuals who have made significant contributions to Sanskrit education, research and the propagation of traditional Indian knowledge systems.
The interaction also highlighted the importance of preserving India’s ancient linguistic and cultural traditions and encouraging greater public awareness about the relevance of Sanskrit in contemporary society. Sanskrit, regarded as one of the country’s oldest classical languages, has played a significant role in shaping Indian philosophy, literature, spirituality and scientific thought over centuries. During the meeting, Mahant Rohit Shastri presented a copy of the book titled Light of the Master, authored by Shri Swami Avdheshanand Giri Ji Maharaj, to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.

The presentation reflected the continued importance of spiritual literature and traditional wisdom in promoting ethical values, cultural understanding and personal development.
The Shri Kailakh Jyotish and Vedic Sansthan Trust has been working towards the preservation and promotion of Sanskrit, Vedic traditions and India’s spiritual heritage through various educational, cultural and religious initiatives. Its annual Sanskrit Ratna Awards form part of these efforts to encourage scholars and individuals associated with the language and traditional knowledge.
The December ceremony is expected to bring together scholars, Sanskrit experts, spiritual leaders and other distinguished personalities committed to preserving India’s cultural legacy. The initiative underscores the need to encourage younger generations to connect with the country’s classical languages and traditional knowledge systems while ensuring their continued relevance in modern times.
