Under the directions of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Pankaj Kumar Sharma and in view of the forthcoming implementation of the VB-GRAM-G Act, 2025 with effect from 01 July 2026, Assistant Commissioner Development Kishtwar Manoj Kumar, who is also Additional District Programme Coordinator (MGNREGS), convened a comprehensive review meeting to assess the preparedness of all blocks for a smooth transition from the existing MGNREGA framework to the new Act.
During the meeting, the Assistant Commissioner Development reviewed the status of ongoing works, liability management, e-KYC verification of Job Card holders, record maintenance, asset documentation and other preparatory measures required under the new framework. Detailed directions were issued to ensure the completion of all requisite formalities within the prescribed timelines.
The Block Development Officers and other functionaries were instructed to expedite the completion of ongoing works, verify and reconcile liabilities, conduct intensive e-KYC verification drives, preserve and digitise records and undertake awareness campaigns regarding the provisions of the VB-GRAM-G Act, 2025. Emphasis was also laid on ensuring seamless service delivery and uninterrupted employment opportunities to eligible rural households during the transition period. Manoj Kumar stressed the importance of coordinated efforts by all functionaries and directed the incumbents concerned to treat the matter on priority and submit regular progress reports to facilitate effective monitoring of preparedness across the district. The meeting concluded with a commitment from all field officers and officials to ensure the smooth and successful implementation of the VB-GRAM-G Act, 2025 in District Kishtwar. Among those present were all Block Development Officers, Panchayat Secretaries, Gram Rozgar Sahayaks, MIS Operators and other field functionaries associated with the implementation of rural development programmes in the district.
