Additional District Development Commissioner Anantnag, Vikas Ahlawat, chaired a review meeting at the District Commissioner’s Office to assess the progress of Aadhaar saturation and the operational status of Aadhaar enrolment and updation centres across the district.
The meeting focused on ensuring universal Aadhaar coverage, improving service delivery and strengthening the functioning of Aadhaar centres to facilitate seamless access to citizen services.
The meeting was attended by key district officials, including the District Programme Officer (Poshan), Chief Medical Officer, Chief Education Officer, District Informatics Officer of the National Informatics Centre, Lead District Manager and representatives of Aadhaar agencies associated with the Integrated Child Development Services and Education Departments. The participants reviewed the existing infrastructure, enrolment figures and challenges affecting the implementation of Aadhaar-related services in different parts of the district.
During the review, a detailed assessment of Aadhaar enrolment and updation activities was undertaken. The officials discussed the present status of Aadhaar registration among various categories of residents and examined the measures required to ensure complete coverage. Particular attention was given to identifying populations that are yet to be enrolled and addressing issues that may hinder the process of Aadhaar saturation.
Vikas Ahlawat stressed the importance of ensuring that every eligible resident possesses a valid Aadhaar card and has access to timely updation services whenever required. He noted that Aadhaar has become an essential identity document for availing various government welfare schemes, financial services and public benefits. Therefore, uninterrupted functioning of Aadhaar centres is necessary to prevent inconvenience to citizens and ensure efficient delivery of government services.
The ADDC directed all concerned departments to expedite pending Aadhaar-related tasks and ensure strict adherence to timelines. He instructed departments to update official email communications to government mail platforms and complete mandatory biometric updation procedures at the earliest. The directive was aimed at improving data accuracy and maintaining updated records for all beneficiaries and residents.
The Education Department was specifically asked to address discrepancies between school records and Aadhaar details of students. Officials were directed to identify and rectify mismatches so that students do not face difficulties while accessing educational benefits, scholarships and other government services linked to Aadhaar. The Health and Education Departments were also instructed to immediately restore non-functional Aadhaar kits and ensure that all equipment required for enrolment and updation remains operational.
During the meeting, the Lead District Manager was directed to take necessary measures to make all inactive Aadhaar centres functional within the next fifteen days. The administration emphasised that the availability of operational centres in different areas is crucial for providing easy access to residents, particularly those living in remote and rural locations.
The ADDC further instructed departments to compile detailed records of Aadhaar registrations completed since January 1, 2026. He emphasised the need to identify the remaining uncovered population and take proactive steps to achieve full saturation. Departments were also asked to facilitate Aadhaar updates wherever necessary, ensuring that demographic and biometric information remains accurate and current.
The meeting also discussed various strategies to improve enrolment and updation services, particularly for eligible beneficiaries who may face challenges in accessing Aadhaar facilities. Officials explored measures to strengthen coordination among departments, improve public awareness and enhance service delivery mechanisms.
The review concluded with a commitment to achieving complete Aadhaar coverage in the district and ensuring that all Aadhaar centres function efficiently to meet the needs of the public.
