Anantnag witnesses Mega Awareness Rallies, Thousands join Padyatras

As part of the district plan designed for the 100-day intensive campaign under Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyaan, mega awareness rallies and Padyatras were held today across the subdivisions of Anantnag district. These rallies, led by respective SDMs and Senior Officers, were attended by officials from civil administration, police and law enforcing agencies, field functionaries, faculty, students, ex-public representatives, civil society, trade and transport union members, among others. A key highlight of the events was the massive participation of the common masses, who joined in thousands, reflecting a growing public concern on substance abuse and a positive response for its eradication from society. At Dooru, SDM, Parvez Raheem, alongwith Tehsildars Dooru and Qazigund, led a mega rally through the main market where participants displayed banners and placards to disseminate message on the devastating consequences of drug abuse.
On the occasion, the SDM administered pledge to the participants, reaffirming their commitment to stay away from drugs and contribute positively toward a drug-free community.
At Pahalgam, SDM, Amit Gupta alongwith CEO PDA, Mir Nasrul Hilal led a large awareness march, emphasizing the importance of sustained awareness in tourist places and other important destinations. He administered the Nasha Mukt pledge to a large group of participants and urged them to make collective and coordinated efforts for eradication of drug abuse from the society. At Bijbehara, SDM, Tanveer Ahmad Tanveer led a massive Padyatra through the town’s prominent locations and also administered the anti-drug pledge to the devotees. He further laid stress on the high need to curb the drug menace through sustained efforts and to save the youth and future of the country. At Kokernag, the rally was led by the Tehsildar, Syed Muiz Qadri, who sensitised the congregation, including students and civil society members, about ill-effects of drug abuse and also administered a collective pledge to them so the message of the campaign reaches everyone. Similar event was organised by Municipal Council Anantnag wherein the Secretary administered Nasha Mukt pledge officials, students, youth and other participants and called upon them to create mass awareness on dreadful consequences of drug abuse during the ongoing initiative.
Throughout these rallies, the authorities emphasized that the fight against contraband substances requires a unified front, with the overwhelming public support showing the district’s resolve to achieve desired goals during the 100-day intensive campaign.
