Giving a major push to local infrastructure, MLA Jammu West Arvind Gupta today started the construction work of a drain in Ward No. 32, Gol Gujjar, Ambica Vihar, addressing a long-pending demand of residents.
The project, being executed at an estimated cost of Rs 25 lakh, is aimed at improving the drainage network in the area, ensuring better sanitation, and providing much-needed relief from waterlogging and related issues that have persisted for nearly two decades.
Speaking on the occasion, Gupta said the initiative reflects his commitment to resolving basic civic issues at the grassroots level. “This project will bring significant relief to the residents of Ward 32 who have been facing drainage problems for the past 20 years. Our focus is on improving basic infrastructure and ensuring a clean and healthy environment for every citizen. We are committed to fulfilling every genuine demand of the people in a time-bound manner,” he said.
He further said that strengthening civic amenities like drainage, roads, and sanitation remains a top priority for the Jammu West constituency, and similar development works will continue in other areas as well. Gupta also directed the concerned officials to ensure quality execution and timely completion of the project, emphasizing that no compromise will be tolerated in developmental works. He said regular monitoring will be carried out to avoid delays and inconvenience to the public, adding that public participation and feedback will be encouraged to ensure transparency and accountability in the implementation process.
Local residents welcomed the move and expressed satisfaction over the start of work on a long-awaited project.
Those present on the occasion included Mandal President Anil Angral, former Sarpanch Pritpal Singh, Raj Kumar Raji, Smt. Geeta Sodhi, JMC Junior Engineer Mahesh G, along with other officials and locals.
