Shiv Sena protest against sale of liquor near religious places and educational institutions

Shiv Sena (UBT) Jammu and Kashmir unit, giving impetus to its ongoing campaign against the sale of liquor near religious places and educational institutions, today protested outside the Maa Durga temple at Vikram Chowk, Jammu and demands were made with immediate effect to close and relocate liquor shops near these institutions. Under the leadership of party state chief Manish Sahni, Shiv Sainiks protested peacefully holding placards “Stop liquor sale near religious and educational institutions”, “Liquor sale should be banned in the city of temples” , outside the Maa Durga temple of Vikram Chowk , (there is a liquor selling shop at a distance of 10 feet of this temple.
Sahni said in his address that the Holy land of sages and prophets is full of liquor shops, even the sale of liquor near religious places and educational institutions was not avoided. Due to which religious sentiments are being hurt and it is also having a negative impact on the youth. The figures of drug addiction are increasing rapidly. In Jammu and Kashmir, which has a population of 1.25 crores, about one million people have become drug addicts.
Sahni said that there above demands are step towards de-addiction campaign. He told that about 50 such shops have been identified in Jammu including Samba, Kathua, Udhampur against which their campaign will continue.
Sahni said that a memorandum has been sent to the Lieutenant Governor and Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir regarding the above demands. He expressed hope that Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, concerned about the increasing drug abuse in Jammu and Kashmir, will issue immediate instructions regarding their demands. Sahni has appealed to the public to raise their voice in favor of this campaign. Earlier, voice was raised against the sale of liquor near religious and educational institutions in Women’s College, Parade, Jammu and Shiv Market near Railway Station. On this occasion Gen secretary Vikas Bakshi, vive president Sanjeev Kohli, President Kanghar wing Raj Singh, Balwant , Rakesh , Girdhari , Mukesh Kumar , Aman , Pankaj and many others were present.
