Interim Budget has enormous opportunities for J&K UT & its people: Nitish

Nitish Mahajan, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Co-Incharge Social Media Department, Jammu while welcoming the Interim Budget 2024-25, expressed happiness over the allocation of Rs. 37,277.74 crore to Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory in the significant fiscal document was unveiled by the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Lok Sabha.
In a statement issued to media here today, the senior BJP leader said that the remarkable feature of this year’s budget allocation to Jammu and Kashmir is that out of the allocated Rs. 37277. 74 cr, Rs. 35,619.30 crore alone have been kept for bridging resource gap in the Union Territory.
Nitish expressed that J&K having a huge tourism potential, therefore the Interim budget has enormous opportunities for this Union Territory and its people. He said that in this regard the people here welcome the government’s initiatives on developing iconic tourist centers and investing in tourism and connectivity infrastructure. Measures such as long term loans for tourism stakeholders will definitely foster the long term development thus automatically unlocking of the Nation’s tourism potential especially that of J&K.
This will give a huge push to the infrastructure and hospitality sector that constitute inseparable components of Tourism sector. Ultimately this will help in attracting the global rather international tourists to visit J&K and explore our heritage thus enhancing the local economies, he added.
The senior BJP leader said that the UT Administration will take optimum benefit of the budget allocation especially by blending technology into travel and hospitality sector. This will not only enhance the efficiency and elevated service quality but would also make it imperative for the sustainable growth of this industry. This has opened the gates for the active involvement of both public and private players to come forward and avail the benefit in this sector that has a far reaching impact on J&K’s economy. He also welcomed the inclusion of ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activists) and Anganwadi workers into the Ayushman Bharat scheme in the interim budget 2024-25.
