In a grand celebration of the Indian Air Force’s (IAF) 92nd anniversary, a 7,000-km long car rally, titled ‘Vayu Veer Vijeta,’ is being organized from Thoise in Ladakh to Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh. The rally, which aims to honor the valor and legacy of the IAF, will span nearly a month, beginning with a formal flag-off from Thoise, one of the highest altitude air force stations in the world at 3,068 meters above sea level, on 8th October 2024. Before the official start in Thoise, Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh will lead a warm send-off from the National War Memorial, New Delhi, on October 1, 2024. This symbolic gesture underscores the rally’s significance in remembering the contributions of IAF warriors and promoting national pride. The rally is scheduled to culminate in Tawang on October 29, 2024. Organized by the IAF in collaboration with veterans of the Uttarakhand War Memorial, the rally serves several important purposes. It aims to raise public awareness about the glorious history of the IAF, showcasing the bravery and sacrifices made by air warriors in various wars and rescue operations. Moreover, it seeks to inspire the youth to join the armed forces and serve the country.
A total of 52 air warriors, including women personnel, will drive the rally vehicles, symbolizing the inclusive and diverse nature of the IAF. Notably, former Air Force Chiefs will also participate in different legs of the rally, adding to its prestige. Along the way, the rally will make 16 halts at various locations, where the participants will engage with students from colleges and universities. These interactions aim to inspire young minds to explore opportunities in the armed forces and raise their awareness of the IAF’s contributions to the nation. The IAF’s Adventure Cell is spearheading the coordination of this large-scale event, which emphasizes physical endurance and teamwork. The ‘Vayu Veer Vijeta’ rally is expected to not only highlight the achievements of the Indian Air Force but also reinforce the deep connection between the military and the citizens of India, fostering national pride and patriotism across the country.
