Ghulam Nabi Azad, Chairman of DPAP, made an earnest appeal on Thursday to LG Manoj Sinha, urging him to direct district-level authorities to promptly address the day-to-day issues faced by people during the ongoing winter season. Azad met with various delegations in Jammu, where constituents expressed their disappointment and frustration over challenges such as unscheduled power cuts in rural areas, particularly in Chenab Valley, Peer Panchal, and Kashmir. Additionally, concerns were raised about the curtailment of subsidized ration and the lack of appropriate measures taken by the government to tackle the Union Territory’s highest-ever unemployment rate.
Expressing his concern, Azad shared, “I was a bit disturbed today after meeting various delegations who feel dejected and disappointed due to poor governance. They are grappling with hardships in this winter season, primarily due to prolonged power cuts.” He emphasized that reducing subsidized ration at a time when unemployment rates are at their peak is unfortunate. Azad suggested that instead of curtailing essential services, the government should have considered increasing the quantity to provide some relief to the people.
The former chief minister asserted that, once his party regains power, he will prioritize ensuring that people receive basic facilities at their doorstep. Azad’s appeal reflects the urgency of addressing the immediate concerns of the public, particularly during the challenging winter conditions, and emphasizes the need for proactive governance to alleviate the hardships faced by the residents of the Union Territory.
