Jammu and Kashmir Police chief Nalin Prabhat on Thursday reviewed the operational deployment and security arrangements being put in place for the upcoming Kousarnag Yatra, with an emphasis on ensuring the safety of pilgrims and the smooth conduct of the annual religious journey.
The review meeting was attended by representatives and concerned formations of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, 2 Sector Rashtriya Rifles, 14 Sector Rashtriya Rifles and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). The meeting provided an opportunity for senior security officials to assess preparations and coordinate deployment plans ahead of the yatra.
During the meeting, Prabhat took stock of the operational preparedness of the security forces and discussed measures required to ensure foolproof security along the routes and other areas associated with the pilgrimage. The participating formations reviewed their respective responsibilities and the arrangements required for maintaining a secure environment throughout the yatra.
The security review assumes significance as the Kousarnag Yatra involves the movement of pilgrims through challenging terrain and requires coordinated arrangements by multiple security agencies. Effective deployment and coordination are essential to ensure that pilgrims can undertake the journey safely while maintaining adequate security in vulnerable and sensitive areas.
The Police chief stressed the importance of close coordination among all participating forces and maintaining operational readiness throughout the duration of the yatra. Security personnel have been tasked with remaining alert and ensuring that arrangements are implemented effectively on the ground.
The meeting also focused on ensuring smooth movement of pilgrims and preventing any disruption during the pilgrimage. The participating agencies were directed to maintain close communication and respond promptly to any situation that may arise during the yatra.
The involvement of the J&K Police, Rashtriya Rifles and CRPF reflects the multi-agency security approach being adopted for the pilgrimage. Coordination between these forces is expected to strengthen surveillance, deployment and response mechanisms along the designated routes.
The authorities are also expected to maintain regular assessment of the security situation as the yatra progresses and make necessary adjustments to deployment based on operational requirements.
The review concluded with an emphasis on foolproof security arrangements and coordinated efforts to ensure the peaceful and successful conduct of the Kousarnag Yatra. The security agencies reiterated their commitment to safeguarding pilgrims and maintaining a secure environment throughout the religious journey.
