Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Shopian, Dr. Nasir Ahmad Lone today chaired a Block Diwas programme at Panchayat Halqa Kathahallan, Block Keller of the district.
The outreach and public contact programme was held with the objective of listening to public issues and grievances for their timely redressal.
During the interaction, the public projected several issues and demands related to road connectivity and macadamization, drinking water supply, dearth of staff in Primary School Kathahallan, repair of roads, electricity, healthcare, education, irrigation and other developmental requirements. Members of the Gujjar community residing in the area also highlighted concerns regarding basic amenities, access to government welfare schemes and recognition of Community Rights under the Forest Rights Act (FRA).
The ADDC directed the concerned officers to examine the issues and take necessary measures as per rules for their resolution. He listened patiently to the issues and grievances and issued on-the-spot directions to the concerned officers for their prompt redressal. Matters requiring higher level intervention were noted for appropriate follow up action and assured people that genuine public concerns would be addressed in a time bound manner. He reiterated the administration’s commitment towards inclusive and participatory development and emphasized that Block Diwas serves as an important platform for strengthening public outreach, ensuring transparency, improving service delivery and accelerating developmental initiatives at the grassroots level. Officers from various departments also briefed the gathering about the implementation and benefits of various welfare and developmental schemes in the area.
Various district and sectoral officers, block-level officials, public representatives, ex-PRIs, civil society members, stakeholders and a large number of local residents attended the Block Diwas programme.
