DC Doda reviews arrangements for 12th International Day of Yoga 2026

Deputy Commissioner Doda, Krishan Lal, on Monday chaired a comprehensive review meeting at the DC Office Complex to assess and finalize arrangements for the celebration of the 12th International Day of Yoga, which will be observed across the district on June 21. The meeting focused on ensuring smooth coordination among various departments and making the event a grand success with maximum public participation.
The district-level function is scheduled to be held at the Sports Stadium Doda, where a large number of participants, including government officials, students, yoga enthusiasts, and members of the public, are expected to take part. In addition to the main event, celebrations will also be organized simultaneously across all tehsils, blocks, educational institutions, and Amrit Sarovars in the district. The administration aims to promote awareness about the importance of yoga and encourage people from all sections of society to adopt healthy lifestyles through regular yoga practice.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need for seamless inter-departmental coordination to ensure the successful conduct of the event. He directed all concerned departments to complete their preparations well in advance and ensure that all necessary arrangements are put in place without any delay.
Special attention was given to security arrangements, sanitation measures, drinking water facilities, medical assistance, transportation, and publicity.
The Deputy Commissioner instructed the concerned departments to work in close coordination to provide a safe and comfortable environment for participants at all designated venues.

He stressed that every aspect of the event should be managed efficiently so that participants can focus on the yoga sessions and associated activities.
The Health Department was directed to deploy adequate medical teams at the venues to provide immediate assistance in case of any health-related emergencies. Arrangements for ambulances and first-aid facilities were also discussed to ensure preparedness during the event.
To spread awareness and encourage greater public participation, the administration plans to undertake an extensive publicity campaign through various platforms. Officials were directed to ensure that information regarding the celebrations reaches educational institutions, government offices, local communities, and youth organizations well before the event date.
The Deputy Commissioner also instructed the Education Department and the Forest Department to organize plantation drives in school premises as part of the celebrations. The initiative aims to combine the message of personal well-being through yoga with environmental conservation and sustainability. Students and teachers will be encouraged to participate actively in the plantation activities, reinforcing the importance of maintaining a healthy environment alongside a healthy lifestyle.
The AYUSH Department has been assigned the responsibility of deploying qualified yoga instructors and experts at all designated venues. These experts will guide participants through various yoga postures, breathing exercises, and wellness practices. The department will also ensure that standardized yoga protocols are followed during the sessions.
The review meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Doda, Additional Deputy Commissioner Doda Anil Kumar Thakur, Additional Deputy Commissioner Bhaderwah Sunil Kumar Bhutyal, Assistant Superintendent of Police Headquarters Mohammad Aslam, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Ashraf Pervez, Assistant Commissioner Development Din Mohammad Afaqi, Chief Planning Officer Manesh Kumar Manhas, and other senior officers from various departments.
The district administration expressed confidence that the coordinated efforts of all departments will ensure a successful celebration of the International Day of Yoga. The event is expected to witness enthusiastic participation from people across the district and further strengthen awareness about the physical, mental, and social benefits of yoga. As preparations gather momentum, Doda is set to join the global observance of the day with a strong message of health, wellness, and community participation.
