A special interaction session with the parents of children enrolled for Natrang’s upcoming Children Theatre Camp was held today at Natrang Studio Theatre. The meeting was presided over by Padma Shri awardee and Natrang Director, Balwant Thakur, who shared his vision for the camp and addressed the concerns and expectations of parents with remarkable clarity and insight.
Welcoming the parents, Balwant Thakur expressed his delight at the overwhelming response received for the Children Theatre Camp, scheduled to commence on June 5, 2026. He elaborated threadbare on the immense significance of theatre in shaping the personality and character of children, describing it as one of the most effective tools for holistic human development.
Addressing the gathering, he explained that theatre is far more than an artistic activity; it is a powerful educational medium that nurtures imagination, emotional intelligence, communication skills, self-confidence, leadership qualities, teamwork, discipline and social awareness. He emphasized that the skills acquired through theatre remain invaluable throughout life, helping children become more expressive, empathetic, creative and responsible individuals.
Balwant Thakur observed that in today’s technology-driven world, children are increasingly exposed to digital distractions that often limit meaningful social interaction and creative engagement. Theatre, he said, offers a unique platform where children learn to listen, collaborate, think independently, solve problems creatively and communicate effectively. Through the process of role-playing and performance, children develop a deeper understanding of themselves as well as others, thereby enhancing their emotional maturity and social sensitivity.
He further informed the parents that Natrang’s Children Theatre Camp is not merely an acting workshop but a carefully designed personality development programme evolved through decades of practical experience. The camp will engage children in theatre games, storytelling, improvisations, voice and body training, creative exercises and performance-oriented activities, all aimed at unlocking their hidden potential in an enjoyable and inspiring environment.
The parents actively participated in the interaction, raising various questions related to the camp schedule, safety measures, learning outcomes, performance opportunities and training methodology. Balwant Thakur patiently responded to every query, assuring them that the camp would be conducted under the supervision of experienced theatre professionals associated with Natrang and would provide a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment for every participant.
Sharing inspiring success stories from previous editions of the camp, he highlighted how numerous participants had demonstrated remarkable improvements in academics, communication skills, confidence levels and overall personality development. He stressed that theatre empowers children to overcome hesitation, develop stage confidence and discover their creative strengths, qualities that contribute significantly to success in every sphere of life.
The parents appreciated Natrang’s initiative and expressed confidence in the institution’s ability to provide a meaningful and enriching experience to their children. They lauded Natrang’s sustained efforts in promoting theatre education among young learners and acknowledged the vital role such initiatives play in shaping future generations.
Natrang’s Children Theatre Camp, one of the institution’s most popular annual programmes, will begin on June 5 and is expected to witness enthusiastic participation from children across Jammu, reaffirming Natrang’s commitment to nurturing creativity, confidence and cultural awareness among the youth.
