Twisha Sharma, a Noida woman who allegedly died by suicide at her marital home in Bhopal on May 12, was cremated on Sunday, May 24, after a second post-mortem examination by a team of doctors from AIIMS Delhi. Emotional scenes unfolded at the Bhadbhada Vishram Ghat in Bhopal, where Twisha’s last rites were performed after 5 p.m.
Her mother and other members in the family were inconsolable as the funeral pyre was lit after performing all the rituals.As per reports, Twisha’s last rites were performed by her brother Major Harshit Sharma at the crematorium in Bhopal.The fresh autopsy was ordered in the case after multiple objections raised by her family members regarding the initial post-mortem report conducted on May 13. “Today, we are going to bid farewell to a daughter, a sister, a friend and an innocent life. The daughter who had begun a new phase of life with dreams has left us all too soon. The vacant eyes of parents, shattered dreams, and every passing moment spent waiting for justice raise a silent question before society,” Twisha’s father, Navnidhi Sharma, said Notably, the 33-year-old was found hanging at her matrimonial home in Bhopal’s Katara Hills area on May 12. Since then, her family members have accused her in-laws of dowry harassment as well as abetment to suicide. However, her in-laws have denied all these claims and alleged that Twisha suffered from drug addiction.
