The atmosphere at the stadium remained energetic and vibrant as players displayed sportsmanship, teamwork and enthusiasm during the friendly yet competitive match. The initiative was aimed not only at promoting physical fitness but also at delivering a strong social message regarding the harmful effects of drug abuse and the importance of adopting constructive lifestyles.
The cricket match was played between teams representing different wings of the district administration. After an exciting contest marked by spirited performances and healthy competition, the team of the DC Office, led by Additional Deputy Commissioner Tahir Mustafa Malik, emerged victorious. Players from both teams showcased commendable sporting talent and dedication, while spectators cheered enthusiastically throughout the match.
Officials present on the occasion stated that sports activities play an important role in keeping youth away from social evils and negative influences. They highlighted that engaging young people in recreational and fitness-oriented activities can significantly contribute towards building confidence, discipline and a sense of responsibility among them.
The exhibition match was therefore organised as part of a broader effort to connect with the youth and encourage them to choose healthy alternatives over substance abuse.
Addressing the gathering after the match, ADC Tahir Mustafa Malik underlined the urgent need for collective action to combat the growing menace of drug addiction in society. He reiterated the message of “Choose Life, Not Drugs” and said that awareness campaigns alone are not sufficient unless communities, educational institutions, families and youth themselves actively participate in the fight against narcotics and substance abuse.
He further stated that sports serve as a powerful tool to channel the energy of young people in a positive direction and help them remain physically fit and mentally strong. He added that regular participation in sports and outdoor activities not only improves health and confidence but also develops qualities such as leadership, discipline and teamwork, which are essential for personal growth and nation building.
The ADC appreciated the efforts of all participating officers, organisers and support staff for making the event successful and meaningful. He also encouraged young people to actively participate in sports and social awareness programmes being organised under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
The event received active support and appreciation from spectators and local residents, who lauded the district administration for organising such a socially relevant initiative. Many attendees described the programme as an effective way to combine awareness with recreation and community participation.
