Ramban/Jammu, May 5
Police on Tuesday demolished an eatery set up along the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway at Chanderkoot in Ramban district, alleging its involvement in the sale of narcotics.
‘Makhan Dhaba’ is owned by Makhan Singh, a resident of Punjab, who has been living in Chanderkoot for nearly 40 years, officials said.
According to the police, the structure was being used to supply contraband substances to locals as well as highway drivers.
“The action was carried out as part of an ongoing anti-drug campaign under the ‘drug-free Jammu and Kashmir’ initiative spearheaded by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha,” they said.
“We have reiterated that any individual involved directly or indirectly in drug trafficking will face strict action,” they said.
The police warned that establishments with even government-issued licences would not remain untouched if found to have links with illegal activities.
