Trinamool Congress (TMC), the ruling party in West Bengal, is eying a fourth consecutive term in 2026 Assembly elections under the leadership of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Amid high-stakes face-off with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), TMC held more than 300 press conferences in the run-up to the polls.
In run-up to polls, the party organised “around 300+ press conferences to counter BJP’s propaganda and put forward its development and agenda,” it stated.
The party carried out a two-tier attack for several major issues. In every district, it had set up media cell, while spokespersons or leaders from the party used to sit there and counter narratives. On certain issues, party even went ahead with a three-tier attack. This was done for visiting the Election Commission of India’s office to file a complaint and address the media. The ruling party had even organised a list of “40+ spokespersons” for central Trinamool Bhavan too.
Over various topics that the party emphasised on were related to Election Commission observers, keeping government development in focus.
Voting for the 2026 Assembly elections in West Bengal was conducted across two phases on April 23 and April 29. During the first phase, polling was held in 152 Assembly constituencies, followed by the remaining 142 Assembly constituencies in the second phase.
