The grieving father of the Pune rape and murder victim has made a strong and emotional appeal for justice, demanding that the accused be given the death penalty without any delay. In a video message released on Sunday, he said the family is enduring unimaginable pain and is not in a position to receive political visitors at this time. He shared that the family had travelled to Dehu to perform the immersion of his young daughter’s ashes when he began receiving calls from relatives and acquaintances. They informed him that several political leaders were planning to visit their home to offer condolences. The father expressed his distress over this, stating that such visits are not acceptable to the family in their current state of grief. In his message, he made it clear that no political leader should visit their home until justice has been fully delivered. He emphasized that the family’s only demand is that the accused, whom he described as a “monster,” be awarded capital punishment. He further said that once the accused is hanged, the family would be open to meeting anyone who wishes to offer condolences, but not before that. The incident that has shaken Pune took place in the Bhor taluka area and involves the brutal rape and murder of a four-year-old girl. According to available reports, the child went missing in the afternoon, triggering panic among her family members. They immediately began searching for her in nearby areas, fearing for her safety.
After a frantic search, the worst fears of the family were confirmed when the child’s mutilated and blood-covered body was discovered. The horrifying nature of the crime sent shockwaves across the region, sparking outrage and grief among residents. Police launched a swift investigation into the case, relying on available evidence, including CCTV footage from the locality. The footage reportedly showed a 65-year-old man leading the child away, which played a crucial role in identifying the suspect. Based on this evidence, police were able to locate and detain the accused within a short span of time. The accused is currently in custody, and authorities have begun a detailed investigation to ensure that all aspects of the crime are thoroughly examined. Officials have assured that the case will be handled with utmost seriousness.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who also oversees the Home Department, strongly condemned the incident, calling it a “blot on humanity.” He directed the Pune Rural Police to build a watertight case so that the accused can be brought to justice without any loopholes. The Chief Minister also announced that the trial will be conducted in a fast-track court to ensure that justice is delivered swiftly. He stated that the government will seek the death penalty for the accused, emphasizing that strict punishment is necessary not only for justice but also as a deterrent against such heinous crimes in the future. In response to the public outrage and to ensure safety in the area, he ordered increased police patrolling across the Bhor region. Following protests that erupted in Nasrapur, senior police officials, including the Superintendent of Police of Pune Rural, have been tasked with closely monitoring the situation and overseeing the investigation to maintain law and order.
