During the session, participants were sensitized about the need for early prevention and community-level vigilance. The discussions emphasized that substance abuse not only affects the health and well-being of individuals but also disrupts social harmony and economic stability. The administration highlighted the importance of awareness at the grassroots level and encouraged citizens to take responsibility in identifying and addressing the issue within their surroundings.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner reiterated the administration’s commitment to curbing drug abuse and protecting the youth from falling into addiction. He underlined that sustained efforts and united action are essential to bring meaningful change.
A pledge-taking ceremony was also conducted on the occasion, where participants collectively reaffirmed their commitment to building a drug-free society. The pledge reflected a shared determination to resist and combat the spread of substance abuse in the district.
Following the awareness camp, a rally was flagged off, moving through various markets in Baramulla town. Participants carried banners and placards with messages against drug abuse, drawing attention from the general public. The rally saw enthusiastic involvement from street vendors, shopkeepers, and local residents, all coming together to amplify the campaign’s message.

The Deputy Commissioner, along with other district officers, joined the rally and interacted with participants, motivating them to act as ambassadors of change within their communities. Their presence further boosted morale and reinforced the importance of public participation in addressing the issue.
The initiative reflects the continued commitment of the District Administration Baramulla to strengthen awareness and promote community involvement in the fight against drug abuse.
