Dogra Degree College Conducts Day 1 of Two-Day Workshop on “Business Model Canvas”

In a significant initiative aimed at fostering innovation and entrepreneurial thinking among students, Dogra Degree College (Autonomous), through its Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) Cell, in collaboration with the Jammu & Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI), successfully conducted Day 1 of a two-day Simulation-Based Workshop on “Business Model Canvas.” The workshop witnessed active participation from students of BBA, B.Com, and BA programmes.
The programme commenced with a motivating welcome address by Mr. Rakesh Mohan Koul, Programme Incharge, BBA and B.Com, who highlighted the growing relevance of innovation and entrepreneurial competencies in today’s dynamic and competitive business environment and the importance of aligning academic learning with practical exposure to bridge the gap between industry and academia.
The session was enriched by the presence of esteemed resource persons from JKEDIMr. Agha Syed Wahid Ali, Assistant Faculty, and Mr. Faheem Ul Din, Associate Project Manager at CIIBM, who brought valuable industry insights and practical perspectives to the workshop. They introduced participants to the Business Model Canvas, a globally recognized tool for designing, analyzing, and refining business ideas. Through engaging and interactive discussions, the resource persons guided students through the key components of the Business Model Canvas, including customer segments, value propositions, channels, customer relationships, and revenue streams, enabling them to understand the fundamentals of building a sustainable business model. A major highlight of the workshop was the hands-on simulation exercise, where students worked collaboratively in teams to convert their innovative ideas into structured business models. The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation, with students actively engaging in discussions and activities, creating a vibrant and intellectually stimulating environment.
The event was graciously presided over by Dr. Bela Thakur, Director DCG and Principal, Dogra Degree College, whose visionary leadership and continuous encouragement play a pivotal role in promoting such impactful academic initiatives.
With a strong conceptual foundation laid on Day 1, the workshop is set to progress into more advanced aspects of business planning and student presentations in the upcoming session.
The programme concluded with a formal Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. Monika Sharma, Assistant Professor, who expressed sincere gratitude to the dignitaries, resource persons, faculty members, and students for their valuable participation and contributions.
