Members of Shiv Sena Hindustan, under the leadership of J&K President Pandit Rajesh Kesari, took out an anti-drug rally in Mishriwala today to spread awareness against the growing drug menace.
Addressing people through the media during the rally, speakers said that “drugs are like termites. Just as termites hollow out wood from within, drugs hollow out the human body and society from inside.” They alleged that to corrupt the younger generation, some anti-social elements—“stooges of Pakistan”—are now using children and women to peddle drugs, especially heroin, locally known as “Chitta”.
“These peddlers target areas outside schools, playgrounds, and lanes to trap small children. Older youth are less likely to get lured, but young children fall into their trap,” a speaker said. The rally noted that while police are working on the issue, stronger community action is needed.
The members praised the 100-Day Nasha Mukt Abhiyan launched by Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha, calling it a commendable step that has energised the entire administration and police force to root out drugs. “Shiv Sena Hindustan has been working on this issue for the last four years like a vanguard, and will continue to support this campaign,” they added.
The party appealed to social workers, parents, mohalla committees, and all political leaders—MPs, MLAs, Rajya Sabha members, and office-bearers of every party—to join the anti-drug movement. “If we have to save the youth, who are the future of the nation, then all of us must contribute our aahuti to this yagya and fully participate in the Lt Governor’s 100-day campaign,” the speakers urged.
Those present on the occasion included Border Pradhan Sanjeev Kumar, Balwant Fouji, Rajkumar, Rajesh Kumar, Saurabh Sharma, Tarsem Kumar, Vinod Kumar, Nannu, Vicky, Harichand, Geeta Devi, Moni Devi, Anu Devi, Gaurav Devi, Manisha, along with a large number of local residents who joined the Nasha Mukt rally.
