Dogra Degree College (Autonomous), under the aegis of its NSS Unit, successfully organized an Inter-College Panel Discussion to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the principal architect of the Indian Constitution.
The discussion, held in the college auditorium, revolved around the theme “Democracy and Dissent: Are We Upholding Ambedkar’s Ideals” and aimed to promote critical dialogue among youth on constitutional values, social justice, and equality.
The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and a floral tribute to Dr. Ambedkar. In his welcome address, Mr. Balwant Singh Parihar highlighted the continued relevance of Ambedkar’s vision in contemporary democratic discourse.
The panel discussion was effectively moderated by Ms. Kamakshi Vaid, who guided the session with clarity and engagement.
Students from various institutions, including Rhythm Sambyal (B.A. 2nd Semester) and Suvidha Sambyal (B.A. 4th Semester) GDC Samba, Sonia Sharma and Ramesh Chander (B.Sc. 2nd Semester) and Ritika Gupta (B.A. 2nd Semester) GCW Parade, Shiv Paul (B.Ed. Special Education, 4th Semester) and Nixon Gour (B.A. (Hons.) Political Science, Semester II) MIER College, Mehak Mahajan and Sana Ganai (BA. LLB 4th & 8th Semester)Dogra Law College, and Gurbani Kaur (BA. 2nd Semester) , Lakshya Mahajan, and Arushi Sharma (BBA 2nd Semester) Dogra Degree College, actively participated, reflecting a vibrant spirit ofengagement and academic exchange.
The event was graced by distinguished dignitaries,Dr.Samar Dev Singh Charak,Secretary DET,Sh. R.S. Katal, Member, Governing Body& Advisory Committee,DET Adv. Gambhir Dev Singh Charak, member trustee, DET, Dr. Bela Thakur,Director DGC and Principal DDC, Dr. Dharmaveer Sharma, Dean DGC, whose presence added significance to the occasion.
The highlight of the programme was the address by the Chief Guest, Adv. Vikram Sharma, Senior Advocate, J&K High Court, who emphasized the importance of constitutional morality, democratic values, fundamental duties, and the vital role of youth in upholding Ambedkar’s ideals.
The programme concluded with the felicitation of the Chief Guest and the distribution of certificates to all participants.
The vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Bela Thakur, who appreciated the efforts of all contributors in making the event a success.
The event concluded with the National Anthem, leaving the audience with a renewed sense of responsibility towards preserving democratic ideals and fostering inclusive dialogue in society.
