jammu, Sept 11
Dr. Pardeep Mahotra, Media Incharge, J&K BJP, has expressed deep anguish over the acute and prolonged water crisis in Jammu city and adjoining areas, terming it as a glaring example of the non-serious and callous approach of the NC-led government in the Union Territory. He said that despite tall claims, even after two weeks of the calamity that struck the region, the administration has failed to chalk out a foolproof action plan to restore normal supply of drinking water.
Dr. Pardeep said that the scarcity of water has disrupted daily life across urban as well as rural belts, exposing the utter incompetence of the concerned departments. He strongly criticized the NC government for its insensitivity towards the plight of the people, alleging that the present dispensation seems more interested in hollow announcements than in delivering real relief on the ground. “Essential services like water supply must never be left to chance. There should be an established backup system to ensure continuity in case of any eventuality. Unfortunately, the NC regime has miserably failed to demonstrate such preparedness,” he remarked.
Highlighting that while water supply has been restored in some pockets, several localities continue to face severe shortages and, in many areas, even water tanker arrangements have not been implemented effectively, Dr. Pardeep urged immediate reforms in the Jal Shakti Department. He suggested that the department should establish modern contingency mechanisms, including standby pumping stations, emergency tanker fleets, scientific monitoring of water levels, and pre-planned distribution networks to tackle such crises swiftly.
He reiterated BJP’s commitment to stand by the people during these testing times and vowed to keep pressing the government until adequate and reliable drinking water supply is ensured for every household.
