The Indian Army hosted a Curtain Raiser event for the forthcoming Tri-Services Academia Technology Symposium at the Manekshaw Centre, New Delhi, marking the official launch of preparations for the main symposium scheduled for 22-23 September 2025.
The event was organized in close coordination with the Integrated Defence Staff, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force, reinforcing the spirit of jointmanship across the armed forces. With the theme ‘Vivek va Anusandhan se Vijay’ (Victory through Wisdom and Innovation), the symposium seeks to foster deep collaboration between the Indian Armed Forces and academic institutions.
It aims to bridge the gap between military requirements and academic research by encouraging innovation and indigenous technological development. This initiative is aligned with the broader vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) in the defence sector.
One of the key highlights of the Curtain Raiser was the inauguration of a dedicated portal to facilitate nationwide participation from universities, colleges, and research institutions. Through this portal, academic institutions can register their representatives as either symposium Attendees or Submitters of project proposals and exhibits. While attendees can participate in seminars, panel discussions, and interactive sessions, submitters will get the opportunity to present their innovations and research relevant to defence needs.
Proposals and exhibits submitted via the portal will undergo a rigorous screening process by subject matter experts from the Army, Navy, and Air Force. Shortlisted entries will be invited for one-on-one discussions with defence representatives and will be featured in the exhibition segment of the symposium. The most promising projects will be recognized and awarded during the valedictory session.
The Tri-Services Academia Technology Symposium represents a strategic move to integrate the intellectual capital of academia with the operational needs of the armed forces.

It promotes a collaborative ecosystem where scientific research and practical defence application converge to strengthen national security.
This initiative highlights the armed forces’ dedication to nurturing indigenous R&D capabilities, with the long-term goal of ensuring technological superiority and self-reliance. As preparations gather pace, the symposium is poised to emerge as a pivotal platform for defence innovation and civilian-military cooperation in India.
