Composite Regional Centre (CRC) Jammu (Samba)-PDUNIPPD, New Delhi, under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MoSJE), Government of India, observed World Autism Awareness Day by organizing a special drawing competition for children with special needs (CWsN).
The event aimed to promote awareness and understanding of autism while providing a creative platform for children to express themselves through art.
A total of 20 children participated in the competition, accompanied by their parents, and were divided into three categories based on their understanding and abilities.
The winners in each category were announced by CRC Jammu, recognizing their artistic talent and effort. In Group A, Chetanya Gupta secured the first prize, followed by Dikshant Sharma in second place and Kanishk Sharma in third. In Group B, Aastha Kak emerged as the winner, with Eklavya Gupta securing the second position.
Group C saw Sonali Gupta claim the first prize, while Saanvi Sharma and Dilbag Singh secured second and third positions, respectively.
The competition was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Rohnika Sharma, Director, CRC Jammu, ensuring a well-organized and inclusive experience.
She emphasized the importance of such initiatives in fostering confidence and creativity among children with special needs. Parents expressed their appreciation for the platform provided by CRC Jammu, highlighting the positive impact such events have on their children’s self-esteem and social skills.
CRC Jammu continues to work towards fostering awareness, inclusivity, and empowerment for children with special needs, encouraging them to explore their talents, build confidence, and integrate into mainstream society with dignity and pride.
