The recent ceasefire violations by the Pakistani army along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district raise serious concerns. The indiscriminate firing and shelling not only endanger civilians but also indicate a deliberate attempt to provide cover for infiltrators. The fact that Pakistan resorted to firing precisely when its soldiers were detected trying to infiltrate Indian territory through a tunnel is alarming. This suggests that Pakistan’s forces are using cross-border shelling to divert attention from their nefarious activities. Indian security forces, however, responded with a befitting counterattack. Such ceasefire violations go against the spirit of the renewed ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, which was enforced in February 2021. Though both sides have generally adhered to this agreement, Pakistan’s repeated violations cannot be ignored. These incidents highlight Pakistan’s continued attempts to facilitate terrorist infiltration into India, a strategy it has employed for decades. The primary objective behind Pakistan’s ceasefire violations appears to be to aid terrorists in crossing into India. By engaging Indian forces in cross-border firing, Pakistan attempts to divert their focus from counter-infiltration measures. However, the Indian security apparatus remains alert and has been successfully neutralizing terrorists entering through these routes. Recently, Indian forces engaged infiltrators in the forests of Kuta, leading to a fierce gunfight. This proves that India is actively thwarting Pakistan’s proxy war tactics. Pakistan’s actions raise serious concerns regarding border security. It is essential to assess the real intent behind such ceasefire violations and ensure greater vigilance along the LoC. The persistent infiltration attempts show that Pakistan has no genuine intention of maintaining peace in the region. Given that trained terrorists from Pakistan are now infiltrating not only into Kashmir but also into Jammu and Sambha regions, it is evident that Pakistan is expanding its destabilization efforts beyond traditional areas of conflict. The situation necessitates a reevaluation of security measures along the LoC, with an urgent need to strengthen border surveillance and increase troop deployment in sensitive zones. Intelligence inputs suggest that Pakistan continues to run terrorist training camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Until these camps are dismantled, cross-border infiltration will persist. The Indian government must adopt a proactive approach to neutralize such threats. Furthermore, Pakistan’s role in smuggling weapons and drugs into Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir through drones cannot be overlooked. India must take stringent measures to counter this growing threat. Mere vigilance at the border is insufficient; decisive action against Pakistan’s terror ecosystem is the need of the hour. Pakistan’s continuous attempts to breach the ceasefire and push terrorists into India indicate a clear violation of peace agreements. While India remains committed to maintaining peace, it cannot allow its national security to be compromised. Strong diplomatic and military measures must be taken to curb Pakistan’s rogue behavior. It is time to hold Pakistan accountable for its actions and ensure that such violations do not go unanswered.
