Senior Congress leader and DDC Suchetgarh, Taranjit Singh Tony today slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for its failure to restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, accusing them of backstabbing the mandate of the people of the region.
Tony was speaking during an interaction with the people of Chatha Gobindpura, where he addressed their concerns and reiterated Congress’s commitment to fighting for the rights of J&K residents.
In his address, Taranjit Singh Tony emphasized that the need of the hour is the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood in its original form.
He stressed that this is crucial not only for political autonomy but also to safeguard the land, jobs, and resources of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. “Jammu and Kashmir deserves to be a full-fledged state once again, with rights and protections that ensure jobs and resources remain in the hands of the local population,” Tony stated.
The senior Congress leader also raised concerns about outsiders claiming jobs in Jammu and Kashmir, stating that the current situation is putting the local population at a severe disadvantage. “People from outside the region are occupying jobs that should rightfully belong to the people of J&K. This is a clear violation of the promises made by the BJP,” he added.
Tony called on the government to take immediate action to safeguard the future of Jammu and Kashmir’s youth, particularly in terms of employment and protection of local resources like land and minerals.
Later, Tony interacted with the residents of Chatha Gobindpura, listening to their issues and concerns. He assured the people that Congress will continue to stand by them and fight for their rights. “Congress is fully committed to ensuring that the people of Jammu and Kashmir get the justice, opportunities, and rights they deserve,” he assured.
Tony reiterated his full support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir and promising to take their concerns forward at every platform.
