Rakesh Mahajan, Incharge BJP All Cells, J&K, today held a pivotal meeting with the Minister of State for Railways, Ravneet Singh Bittu, to address several critical issues impacting the business community and overall development in Jammu and Kashmir. Central to the discussion was the long-anticipated Jammu-Poonch Rail Link, he passionately endorsed as a transformative venture for the region.
Rakesh Mahajan emphasized that the Jammu-Poonch Rail Link is not just an infrastructure project but a gateway to unprecedented growth in tourism and economic activities. “The rail link will significantly boost tourism by providing easier access to the region’s religious sites, such as the Shadara Sharief, Nangali Sahib and Buddha Amarnath shrines, which hold immense religious importance,” he said and further noted that improved connectivity will attract more pilgrims and tourists, leading to increased business opportunities for local vendors and hospitality services.
During the meeting, Rakesh Mahajan also underscored the necessity of maximizing halting points for goods trains across the Jammu region. “Ensuring goods trains halt at more stations will facilitate smoother and more efficient transportation of goods, which is crucial for the economic growth of our region. It will enhance the supply chain and reduce transportation costs for our local businesses,” he explained.
The senior BJP leader highlighted the Modi government’s unwavering commitment to operationalizing the Mughal Road on a 24-hour basis, a development eagerly awaited by the residents of Jammu and Kashmir. “The people have high hopes from the Railway Ministry and the Modi government to deliver on this promise,” he added. The Railway Minister gave a patient hearing to Rakesh Mahajan’s proposals and assured him of considering the demands raised for the overall development of the Jammu region. He highlighted the vision of central government’s connecting Kashmir to Kanyakumari via rail. “The Modi government is working diligently on this ambitious project, which includes the Jammu-Poonch Rail Link as a significant milestone. This comprehensive connectivity plan is expected to bring about a revolutionary change in the transportation landscape of our nation,” he remarked.
