The Dogra Sadar Sabha, Jammu and Kashmir (DSS), is going to observe the annual event ‘Save Birds, Save Water Day’ (Aao Pakshiyon Ko Paani Pilaaye; Paani Bachaayen) on May 4th this year, starting from 10:00 AM onwards at the Dogra Sadar Sabha Bhawan, Jammu. The event is being organized in collaboration with the Dogra Educational Trust, Shri Lakshmi Narayan Mandir Management Trust, J&K Ex-Services League, Management Committee of Makkah Masjid, Bhatindi, and the Forest Department of Jammu.
This was announced by Th. Gulchain Singh Charak, Former minister and President of the Sabha, while addressing the media persons here today.
Charak highlighted that this initiative, launched 19 years ago by the 120-year-old sole representative body of the Dogras, aims to create public awareness and promote compassion towards birds, particularly amidst rapid urbanization and the depletion of natural water bodies, which were once abundant just a few decades ago.
Detailing the activities planned for the day, Charak disclosed that informative and motivational talks on nature preservation and wildlife conservation will be conducted during the event. The gathering is expected to include prominent citizens, educators, Forest Department officials, philanthropists, and students.
