Adv Purnima Sharma, Spokesperson BJP J&K and former Deputy Mayor today hailed the verdict of the Supreme Court for upholding the constitutional validity of the 2019 abrogation of Article 370, terming it as a historic moment for the country in general and J&K in particular. In a statement issued here today, the senior BJP leader said “This is a watershed moment in our nation’s history. The Supreme Court has reaffirmed the sovereignty and integrity of India, and laid to rest any lingering doubts about the legitimacy of the abrogation of Article 370.”
She emphasized the long-standing demand of the BJP and the people of Jammu and Kashmir for the removal of Article 370, which she called a “discriminatory and outdated provision that hindered the full integration of the region with the rest of India.”
“The abrogation has paved the way for a brighter future for Jammu and Kashmir. It has opened doors for equal opportunities, development, and prosperity for the people of the region.
Investments are flowing in, infrastructure is improving, and the overall socio-economic landscape is undergoing a positive transformation,” she added.
The senior BJP leader expressed gratitude to the Supreme Court for its “wise and decisive” judgment. “This verdict is a testament to the strength of our democracy and the rule of law. It paves the way for a united and prosperous India, where all citizens enjoy equal rights and opportunities,” she added.
