Arvind Gupta, senior BJP leader and MLA West Constituency, today conducted a site inspection of a 200-meter-long Nallah in Ward No. 29, Shakti Nagar, which has sustained significant damage, severely impacting the adjoining road infrastructure and causing inconvenience to the local residents.
Accompanied by officials from the Public Works Department (PWD) and the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Arvind assessed the extent of damage and interacted with residents who expressed concerns over the deteriorating condition of the Nallah. They highlighted how the damaged drain has led to frequent waterlogging, road erosion, and safety hazards, particularly during the rainy season.
Addressing the gathering, the senior BJP leader assured the people that immediate steps would be taken to restore the Nallah and prevent further infrastructural damage. He directed the concerned authorities to prepare a comprehensive restoration plan and expedite the repair work to ensure the safety and convenience of the public. He emphasized the need for a long-term drainage solution in the area to prevent recurring issues. “We will explore options for a permanent concrete lining to enhance the durability of the Nallah and ensure smooth drainage flow, eliminating the risk of future damage,” he added.
The MLA also directed the JMC officials to carry out regular maintenance and desilting of Nallahs across Jammu West to prevent water stagnation and road deterioration. He reiterated his commitment to working for the welfare of the people and addressing their grievances in a time-bound manner.
“The BJP-led government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to improving urban infrastructure and ensuring better civic amenities for the people. This Nallah has been causing problems for a long time, and I assure you that its repair and strengthening will be taken up on priority,” he stated.
Among those who were present included Mandal President Kushant Daffara, Vedu Sharma, Karan Sharma, Mohit Vaid and several others.
