On January 28th, 2025, Dogra Degree College, through its NSS Unit, in collaboration with the Equal Opportunity Cell and the Electoral Literacy Club, organized a series of impactful events to celebrate National Girl Child Day and promote voter awareness.
To mark National Girl Child Day, the NSS Unit and Equal Opportunity Cell hosted an insightful awareness lecture on “Various Government Schemes for the Girl Child in India.” Delivered by Ms. Monika Sharma, the session highlighted the numerous government initiatives designed to empower and support the girl child, focusing on their well-being and promoting gender equality.
The lecture provided valuable insights into these schemes, helping students understand how these programs are shaping a brighter future for girls across the nation.
In the second phase of the day’s activities, the NSS Unit, in partnership with the Electoral Literacy Club, organized an awareness rally in Bari Brahmana, Samba, aimed at encouraging online voter card registration. Around 30 volunteers participated in the event.
The entire initiative was coordinated under the leadership of NSS Programme Officer Ms. Simran Thakur, with essential support from Ms. Monika Sharma, the Convener of both the Equal Opportunity Cell and the Electoral Literacy Club.
The efforts were also guided by Principal Dr. Bela Thakur, whose continued leadership fosters meaningful social engagement at Dogra Degree College.
These initiatives reflect the college’s ongoing commitment to fostering social responsibility, promoting gender equality, and enhancing civic awareness, while nurturing an informed and active student body ready to contribute to society and participate in the democratic process.
