One-Day workshop on Eat Right initiatives, FSS regulations held at Doda

A one-day interaction-cum-workshop on the implementation of the Food Safety and Standards Act (FSSA) and “Eat Right” initiatives was held here today. The event, hosted by Assistant Commissioner Food Safety Dev Dutt Sharma, was graced by the presence of the Commissioner, FDA, Hashmat Ali Yatoo as the Chief Guest, and the Deputy Commissioner Food Safety, FDA Division Jammu, as the Guest of Honour. The program aimed to promote awareness and effective execution of food safety regulations to safeguard public health.
During the event, Commissioner, FDA inspected stalls set up by various departments, including Ayush, Agriculture, Horticulture, ICDS, and Mid-Day Meals (Education Department). The stalls showcased efforts towards ensuring food safety and the promotion of healthy eating habits. The workshop highlighted key topics such as food fortification in ICDS and Mid-Day Meals, hygienic practices in food preparation, the deployment of Mobile Food Testing Vans, hygiene ratings, and the significance of FoSTaC (Food Safety Training and Certification) programs.
Key speakers, including the Assistant Commissioner Food Safety Doda and the Deputy Commissioner Food Safety FDA Division Jammu, delivered detailed presentations and interacted with participants, including food business operators (FBOs) and prominent citizens. They emphasized the importance of adopting best practices in food safety, the role of stakeholders in ensuring compliance with FSS regulations, and the collective responsibility of maintaining public health standards.
In his concluding address, Hashmat Ali Yatoo stressed the need for a collaborative approach, involving all stakeholders, to enhance consumer safety and public welfare. He underscored the importance of fostering a sense of responsibility and ownership among participants to achieve the shared goal of ensuring food safety and promoting healthy lifestyles.
The workshop was a step forward in strengthening the implementation of “Eat Right” initiatives and creating a healthier and safer food environment for the community.
