In a commendable effort to promote road safety and reduce traffic-related accidents, the Indian Army conducted a lecture on road safety at Gursai in the Poonch district. This initiative aimed to educate students and teachers about the importance of responsible behavior on roads and adherence to traffic rules to ensure safer journeys for all.
With the growing number of private vehicles in the region, road traffic accidents have become a significant concern. The lecture was designed to address this pressing issue by equipping attendees with the knowledge and awareness needed to navigate roads responsibly. A total of 148 students and 21 teachers, including educators from local schools, attended the event.
During the session, the students were introduced to essential traffic rules, safety guidelines, and emergency response procedures. The lecture emphasized that road safety is a shared responsibility and requires active participation from all individuals. By fostering awareness at a young age, the initiative aimed to instill lifelong habits of cautious and responsible road use among students.
Teachers were encouraged to extend the lessons learned during the session to their classrooms, ensuring that the message of road safety reaches a broader audience. The event also highlighted the need for a community-based approach to tackling road accidents.
The students were informed about the causes of road traffic accidents, such as speeding, distracted driving, and neglecting traffic signals, and were provided with practical tips to avoid such mishaps. Discussions included the significance of wearing seat belts, using helmets while riding two-wheelers, and adhering to speed limits. Additionally, the students were educated about the role of pedestrians in road safety and the importance of using designated crossings and footpaths.
An open-house discussion at the end of the lecture provided an opportunity for attendees to ask questions and clarify doubts. This interactive session further reinforced the importance of the topic and ensured that students left the event with a clear understanding of road safety practices.
The initiative was well-received, with participants expressing their appreciation for the Indian Army’s efforts in raising awareness about this critical issue.
The children were particularly grateful for the educational interaction, which they found both informative and engaging.
This lecture is part of the Indian Army’s ongoing commitment to community welfare and its proactive approach to addressing the needs and concerns of the local population. By fostering road safety awareness, the Army aims to reduce the number of road traffic accidents in the region and create a culture of responsible road behavior.
The event concluded with a pledge by all attendees to prioritize road safety in their daily lives.
