Demonstrating its continued commitment to the welfare and development of local communities, the Indian Army organized a lecture on Social Media Awareness at Kijai, Kishtwar district. The initiative aimed to educate the villagers about the opportunities and challenges posed by social media in today’s increasingly digital world.
The lecture highlighted the transformative power of social media as a platform for connection, learning, and self-expression. However, it also addressed critical concerns such as the spread of misinformation, threats to privacy, and risks to online safety.
With the growing prevalence of social media in daily life, the Indian Army’s effort focused on fostering responsible online behavior and equipping individuals with the knowledge to navigate the digital landscape safely.
The session was attended by 42 villagers from Kijai and neighboring areas. It included discussions on recognizing fake news, protecting personal information, and promoting positive and constructive use of social media platforms. The audience was encouraged to exercise caution while sharing information online and to be vigilant about potential cyber threats. Practical tips on securing online accounts and maintaining digital hygiene were also shared.

Villagers acknowledged the relevance of the topic and thanked the Army for addressing a pressing issue that affects individuals of all age groups, especially in remote and underserved areas like Kijai.
By conducting this lecture, the Indian Army reinforced its role as a catalyst for social development, extending its efforts beyond national security to include community engagement and awareness-building initiatives. Events like these play a crucial role in bridging the knowledge gap in rural areas, empowering residents to adapt to the digital era while safeguarding their interests.
