The J&K UT Roller Skating Championship, organized by the J&K Roller Skating Association under the esteemed guidance of S. G.S. Khurmi, concluded on November 5, 2024, at MA Stadium in Jammu. This three-day event showcased remarkable performances from various age categories, reflecting the enthusiasm and dedication of skaters from across the state. With over 200 participants, the championship provided a dynamic platform for athletes to demonstrate their talent, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
The closing ceremony featured a medal presentation, where Chief Guest S. Rajinder Singh Tara, Director General of Youth Services and Sports, J&K, honored the winners and runners-up. Distinguished guests S. Baljinder Pal Singh, Divisional Sports Officer of Jammu, and S. Suraj Bhan Singh, Manager of Indoor Stadium, were also present to support the young athletes. The J&K Roller Skating Association expressed gratitude to all participants for their hard work and to the officials, coaches, and volunteers whose efforts contributed to the smooth execution of the event. This successful championship highlights the growing popularity of roller skating in Jammu and strengthens the foundation for future talent development and competitive excellence in Some Notable Medal Winners: In the 500 m Quad Professional Skates event, winners included Kavish, Sehraj, and Ransher Wazir (5-7 yrs boys); Anshika, Medhasvi, and Aanya (5-7 yrs girls); Avikam, Riyansh, and Vivan (7-9 yrs boys); Kavya, Nysha, and Aadhya (7-9 yrs girls); and Rudraksh, Gurtej, and Harsh (9-11 yrs boys). In the 500 m Inline Professional Skates category, champions included Mohd. Zaheen, Shivaay, and Irfan (5-7 yrs boys); Kamakshi, Haneet, and Anaya (5-7 yrs girls); and Pavit, Akshan, and Nalinaksh (7-9 yrs boys).
The championship also featured a 1000 m event, where notable winners were Kavish, Sehraj, and Ransher Singh Wazir (5-7 yrs boys); Medhasvi, Anshika, and Aanya (5-7 yrs girls); and Vivan, Avikam, and Hriday (7-9 yrs boys). In the 1000 m Inline Professional Skates category, medalists included Mohd. Zaheen, Shivoham, and Irfan (5-7 yrs boys); Kamakshi, Haneet, and Anaya (5-7 yrs girls); and Pavit, Akshan, and Nalinaksh (7-9 yrs boys).
In the roller hockey event, Hockey Club Classico won gold in the Senior Boys category, with team members Jugraaj Singh, Jatin Sabarwal, Ankush Gupta, Rupinder Paul Singh, Darpan Gargotra, Shivank Sharma, and Aryan Gupta. In the Senior Mix category, Hockey Club Classico A & B shared gold, represented by Jugraaj Singh, Jatin Sabarwal, Ankush Gupta, Rupinder Paul Singh, Darpan Gargotra, Shivank Sharma, Aryan Gupta, Antra Mahajan, Czia Raina, Ridhima Sharma, Tapur Sharma, Aiyza Chib, and Aarohi Mahajan. The J&K UT Roller Skating Championship concluded with pride, laying a promising path for the future of roller sports in the region.
