Dogra Degree College hosts demonstration on Handling Reptiles with Wildlife Sanctuary Experts

The NCC Unit of Dogra Degree College organized an engaging and educational event focusing on handling and understanding reptiles in collaboration with experts from the local wildlife sanctuary on 25th of October2024 i.e. today. The event was organized by the NCC Unit under the leadership of ANO/CTO Gulshan Sharma. The workshop, titled Demonstration on Handling Reptiles which aimed to provide students with knowledge on safely interacting with reptiles, understanding their behavior, and protecting local wildlife habitats. The event featured a team of experts from J&K Forest Department including Yoginder singh, Bo. Iqbal butt and Tarlochan sharma who brought extensive experience in handling reptiles and shared insights into the importance of conserving these misunderstood creatures. Attendees had the opportunity to witness live demonstrations on handling snakes, lizards, and other reptiles commonly found in the region, emphasizing both safety and respect for wildlife.
The wildlife experts emphasized techniques for safely relocating reptiles, understanding reptilian body language, and distinguishing between venomous and non-venomous species. The workshop concluded with a Q&A session, where students asked questions and received guidance on addressing reptile encounters responsibly. The students also volunteered to try all the exercises demonstrated by the experts.
Dr. Bela Thakur, Principal Dogra Degree College Congratulated and appreciated the NCC unit and Students of the college. The whole programmed was conducted under the guidance of Mr. Gulshan Sharma CTO/ANO and the participation of 25 NCC Cadets and Students of the college.
