RAJOURI, Oct 18
District Development Commissioner (DDC) Rajouri Abhishek Sharma today conducted an on-site inspection of the development works on National Highway (NH) and the ongoing construction of Nowshera Tunnel project being executed by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO).
The visit aimed to assess the pace and quality of work on these critical infrastructural projects and address any bottlenecks to ensure timely execution.
Accompanying the DDC during the visit were Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Nowshera, Babu Ram Tandon, and senior officers from the BRO.
The inspection team reviewed the construction progress, interacted with the engineers on the site, and evaluated the alignment and design aspects of the tunnel and highway construction.
The Nowshera Tunnel, a key component of the NH project, is set to significantly improve connectivity in the region by facilitating smooth vehicular movement, especially during adverse weather conditions. This tunnel, when completed, will reduce travel time and enhance road safety by bypassing treacherous sections of the existing highway.
During the inspection, DDC Abhishek Sharma stressed the importance of adhering to the project deadlines and maintaining high-quality standards.
He highlighted the significance of the tunnel and highway for the overall development of the region, ensuring better connectivity for residents and improving access to essential services. Sharma also directed the officers of BRO to expedite the work without compromising on the technical standards and safety measures.
“The Nowshera Tunnel is a strategic project that will serve not just as a critical transportation link but will also boost local trade and economic activities. It is crucial that we complete it on time and ensure it serves its intended purpose,” said DDC Sharma.
ADC Nowshera, Babu Ram Tandon, briefed the DDC about the administrative support being extended to the BRO for the smooth execution of the project. He assured that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure the availability of resources and resolution of any issues that may arise during the construction phase.
The BRO officers also provided a detailed overview of the technical challenges faced, including terrain difficulties and weather conditions. However, they assured the DDC that all efforts are being made to overcome these hurdles and complete the project within the stipulated timeline.
The DDC Rajouri, in concluding the visit, emphasized that the district administration will continue to closely monitor the progress of the project and coordinate with BRO to resolve any impediments swiftly. He further instructed that regular progress reports be submitted to his office to ensure that the work remains on track.
