The Indian Army successfully inaugurated the much-anticipated Paddar Cricket Premier League at Gulabgarh, Kishtwar, on 21 September 2024. This initiative is part of the Army’s continuous efforts to engage with the local community and promote sportsmanship and positive youth engagement in the region.
The tournament aims to provide a platform for talented youth from the area to showcase their cricketing skills, while also fostering a spirit of fair play, teamwork, and camaraderie. The response from the local community has been overwhelming, with 32 teams from across the region registering for the tournament. This enthusiastic participation reflects the passion for cricket and the eagerness of the youth to be involved in constructive and competitive activities.
The opening ceremony was presided over by officials from the Indian Army, who encouraged the young players to compete with the true spirit of the game. They emphasized the importance of abiding by the principles of fair play and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
The event kicked off with an exciting opening match between Bhawani Tigers and Atholi Lions, setting the tone for the competition. Over the next few weeks, a total of 31 matches will be played, leading up to the grand final, which is scheduled for the first week of October 2024.
The Paddar Cricket Premier League is expected to serve as an important platform not only for local youth to hone their cricketing talents but also to strengthen the bonds between the Indian Army and the community.
