Tree Plantation Drive at Kotranka Rajouri

Indian Army has been embarking upon accelerated Tree plantation drive to ensure preservation of Earth and counter rapid deforestation in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. As per the released biennial report of “India State of Forest Report (ISFR)”, the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir has too contributed in increasing the green cover by figuring among top five States/Union Territories recording highest increase.
With an aim to increase the forest cover and rehabilitation of degraded forest, Indian Army organized a Tree plantation drive at JNV. Kotranka, Rajouri district. The ‘Tree plantation Drive’ witnessed the huge participation by 05 teachers and 67 students (including 34 Boys & 33 Girls) and a total number of 48 saplings of different categories were planted in the JNV, Kotranka. The plantation drive included tree plantation of Guava, Pomegranate and Tamarind etc varieties of trees. ‘Tree plantation drive’ was a grand successful event since it not only created a mass awareness amongst the students & local populace but also laid emphasis on conservation of nature and natural resources. JNV, Kotranka and the AWAM appreciated the noble initiative undertaken by the Army for nature preservation and pledged to take care of each sapling by adopting it and caring it in future till it bears result.
