RAJOURI, Sept 10
A series of extensive voter awareness activities were conducted across various Assembly Constituencies in Rajouri district here today under the direction of District Election Officer Abhishek Sharma and the supervision of District Nodal Officer SVEEP Rajouri, Bishamber Dass.
In Assembly Constituency 85 (Rajouri), SVEEP Nodal Officer Rakesh Kumar Sharma and his team spearheaded a significant macro-awareness program in village Doongi and its neighboring areas, including High School Doongi.
Over 150 students, 20 staff members and locals actively participated in the program featuring an awareness lecture, pledge ceremony, signature campaign, plantation drive, door-to-door awareness, and a rally. The event was thoroughly documented and a similar initiative followed in village Dhara Sawala and at HS Dhara Sawala.
The District SVEEP team visited Polling Station 115 Saaj Bhattian in Assembly Constituency 87 (Thannamandi), which had reported a voter turnout below 50% in the 2024 General Lok Sabha Election.
The Team members Mohammad Ayaz Raina and Aejaz-ul-Haq held an interactive session with locals, emphasizing the importance of voting.
The team found that the low turnout was influenced by the unfortunate death of a young voter en route to the polling station. They expressed optimism of improved participation in the upcoming elections.
A compelling skit titled “Polling in Action” was performed at Government High School, Marhuta, Khawas in Assembly Constituency 86 (Budhal), under the guidance of SVEEP Nodal Officer Prof. Tahir Nadeem.
The event, organized by Principal Mohd Yousaf Bhat, received enthusiastic applause from students, teachers, and SVEEP Cell members. Additionally, preparations for a Mega Plantation Drive, scheduled for 14th-15th September, are in full swing.
In AC-83 Kalakote, a thrilling volleyball match was held at GHS Siot under the banner of SVEEP, promoting both sportsmanship and voter awareness among students.
These initiatives showcase the District SVEEP team’s dedication to maximizing voter participation as the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly Elections draw near.
