An awareness program for young voters was hosted today at Government Degree College Katra Reasi as part of the “Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation” (SVEEP) initiative. The event was a component of a broader campaign designed to boost voter turnout for the Assembly Elections 2024.
The event saw active involvement from both students and faculty, demonstrating a shared commitment to creating an informed and engaged electorate.
The SVEEP team, led by Nodal Officer Sachin Sharma, provided detailed information on the electoral process and encouraged everyone to participate in the democratic process by voting on 25 September 2024.
A range of activities, including student speeches, a symposium, poster-making contests, and Singing Competitions were organized to further engage participants and raise awareness about the significance of voting.
The program concluded with a pledge from GDC Katra students and staff to actively promote voter participation within their communities, aiming to increase voter turnout in the upcoming elections. This initiative underscores the importance of voter education and the crucial role of youth and educators in supporting a vibrant and inclusive electoral process.
Others present during the event was principal GDC Katra Dr. Rajni Bhagat, College SVEEP incharge Dr Usha Sharma, BDO Panthal Mehak Chowdhary, faculty members GDC Katra and officials of College and social welfare departments.
