With the resolution of protection of its cultural identity and first right of sons of soil on government jobs, free electricity-water and unemployment allowance etc., Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate first time from Kashmir valley fielded its nomination.
In the presence of party state chief Manish Sahni,party candidate ‘Mohammad Ramzan Dar’ filed his nomination along with hundreds of his supporters and workers from Srinagar, Hazratbal assembly seat of Kashmir. On this occasion, state chief Manish Sahni accused the Modi government of central government of step-motherly treatment towards Jammu and Kashmir and violation of the rights of the people.
Sahni said that 12 states of the country including Manipur, Assam, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim having “special status” under Article 371. Jammu and Kashmir completely meets the standards set for this. But the BJP government is hell bent on violating Jammu and Kashmir instead of giving rights to it.
He said that the recent amendments in the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act to increase the jurisdiction of the Lieutenant Governor confirms his allegation. These amendments have reduced the jurisdiction of the Assembly and almost hollowed out the voting rights of the people, which cannot be justified for any democratic country.
Sahni said that every candidate of Shiv Sena (UBT) will contest the elections with the promise of special privileges to Jammu and Kashmir, restoration of rights of local people, free electricity and water, safe return of Kashmiri Pandits to the valley, etc.
Sahni described Jammu and Kashmir as the land of sages, saints and prophets and demanded the implementation of prohibition. On this occasion Malik Bashir (President, Kashmir Division), Balwant Singh (Vice President), Raj Singh (President, Kamgar Wing), Rajesh Jandial (Secretary) , Manjoor Ahmed , Imran Akbar , Mustaq Mohd. , Javed Ahmed Teli , Rafeeqa Begam and many others were present.
