Justice Tashi Rabstan inaugurated Legal Literacy Club at DPS Udhampur

In a significant stride towards enhancing legal awareness and strengthening the legal education in Udhampur, Justice Tashi Rabstan, Chief Justice (Acting), High Court of J&K and Ladakh, and Executive Chairman, J&K Legal Services Authority today inaugurated a Legal Literacy Club at Delhi Public School (DPS), Udhampur.
On his arrival, Justice Tashi accompanied by M. K. Sharma, Principal Secretary Chief Justice, Amit Kumar Gupta, Member Secretary, J&K Legal Services Authority and Prem Sagar, Secretary, HCLSC was accorded warm reception by Haq Nawaz Zargar, PDJ (Chairman DLSA), Udhampur, Saloni Rai, DC Udhampur, Ajay Sharma, Secretary DLSA Udhampur, Vishal Bharti, District Mobile Magistrate, Udhampur, Joginder Singh, SSP Udhampur, Dr. J. C Gupta, Chairman, Vivek Gupta, Vice Chairman, Dr. Kunal Anand, Principal, DPS, Udhampur and other teaching and administrative staff and students of the school.
During the inaugural ceremony, Justice Tashi Rabstan emphasized the importance of Legal Literacy Clubs in empowering students with knowledge about their legal rights and responsibilities. He highlighted that these clubs play a pivotal role in fostering a culture of legal awareness among the younger generation, which is crucial for the development of a just and fair society. “Legal literacy is the foundation of a well-informed citizenry and it is essential for the protection of rights and the promotion of justice,” he remarked.
Justice Tashi further highlighted that it is a great opportunity for the young generation to get associated with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) in spreading awareness about the ill effects of drugs. He added that students are the future of our country and they should become the torchbearers in eradicating the social evils like child labour and drug abuse from the society.
Justice Tashi impressed upon the students to utilize the precious life given by Almighty for the welfare of society and urged them to take maximum benefit of the Legal Literacy Club and becoming ambassadors of the movement against drug abuse.
The students of DPS Udhampur presented a vibrant cultural program that profoundly impacted the audience. With the thought-provoking performances, the students depicted the severe menace of child labour and the devastating effects of drugs, tobacco, smoking, and liquor consumption.
The performances conveyed powerful messages about the dangers and consequences of these societal issues. The students’ portrayal of the harsh realities faced by children forced into labour and individuals suffering from addiction was both moving and educational, highlighting the need for collective action to address these problems.
The initiatives like establishment of Legal Literacy Clubs underscore the commitment of the Legal Service Institutions in UT of J&K to empower the younger generation with legal knowledge, fostering a future of informed and responsible citizens promoting legal awareness and strengthening the legal framework for the benefit of all citizens.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by the students of DPS Udhampur and formal vote of thanks was presented by Ajay Sharma, Secretary, DLSA Udhampur.
