The Dras Thunder Motor-cycle Rally embarked on its sixth day of journey today, flagged off by Lieutenant General Anindya Sengupta, Uttam Yudh Seva Medal, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Yudh Seva Medal, Chief of Staff, Headquarters Northern Command. The ceremony took place at the Dhruva War Memorial in Udhampur, attended by senior officers from the Udhampur Military Station.
The rally team includes army personnel, war veterans from Operation Vijay, next of kin of the bravehearts of Operation Vijay, and community members from Dras. This rally symbolizes the enduring bond between the armed forces and the nation, resonating with the spirit of courage, sacrifice, and patriotism. Throughout their journey, the team is scheduled to meet gallantry award winners, veterans, and veer naris (war widows), underscoring the sacrifices and bravery of those who served during the Kargil War. The Dras Thunder Motorcycle Rally was initially flagged off from the National War Memorial in New Delhi on 13 June 2024 by Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi, Param Vishisht Seva Medal, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Vice Chief of Army Staff. The participants reached Udhampur on 17 June 2024 at 1800 hours, where they halted for the night. On 18 June, the rally covered a distance of 134 kilometers, arriving in Srinagar.
