RDD Secretary reviews progress on flagship schemes

Secretary, Rural Development Department (RDD) and Panchayati Raj, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, reviewed progress on UT Capex, CSS and KPIs achieved in the financial year 2023-24 with the Assistant Commissioners Development (ACDs), Assistant Commissioners Panchayat (ACPs) and Block Development Officers (BDOs) of Kashmir division at SKICC.
The Administrative Secretary had a detailed review of flagship schemes being implemented by Rural Development Department.He held detailed deliberations with the ACDs and ACPs for achieving the targets.
Dr Shahid underscored the importance of convergence within the department to ensure effective utilization of resources and progress at the district level. He emphasized collaboration among different departments and stakeholders to achieve the goals.
He stressed the need for training programs for panchayat members and officials, as well as Self-Help Groups (SHGs) for social auditing to promote transparency.
Recognizing the importance of interpersonal communication in driving progress, Dr. Shahid highlighted the need for suggestions from field officers on how to improve public outreach and office efficiency from financial and administrative perspectives.
Director, RDD, Kashmir, Shabir Hussain Bhat made a detailed presentation about the status of MGNREGA and PMAY-G implementation, administrative and financial status of schemes, challenges and other issues.
Director General, Rural Sanitation, Anoo Malhotra, made a presentation on implementation of Swachh Bharat Mission- Grameen in the UT, including flagship initiatives and interventions.
She sought support of field officers in effective implementation of sanitation facilities and timely interventions for better results in door-to-door waste collection, collection of user charges, engaging Self Help Group members in different activities, creation of Swachhta Bank and developing legacy waste sites into revenue generation places.
Chief Operating Officer, Himayat, Rajneesh Gupta, talked about program’s focus on skill training to uplift beneficiaries from poverty to prosperity. Gupta appealed for support from field officers in mobilizing youth at the district level, both through district administration and panchayat representatives.
