In a significant move, prominent political and social activist Sardar Jatinder Singh Lucky, former Vice Chairman of Cantonment Board Jammu along with hundreds of his supporters has joined the National Conference.
The joining ceremony took place at the residence of Dr. Farooq Abdullah in Bathindi, Jammu, in the presence of Mr. Omar Abdullah, former Chief Minister and Vice President, Mr Ajay Kumar Sadhotra former minister and Additional General Secretary, Sheikh Bashir Ahmed Provincial Secretary Jammu and Mr. Shafqat Watali, Ex-IGP and senior leader JKNC.
Omar Abdullah welcomed S. Jatinder Singh Lucky and his associates into the National Conference, expressing confidence that their joining will further strengthen the party at the grassroots level and boost morale for the restoration of democratic rights in Jammu & Kashmir. He particularly highlighted the contribution of the late S. TS Wazir and expressed hope that S. Jatinder Singh Lucky would fill the void left by his demise, further endorsing Lucky’s concerns and discussing reservation for the minority Sikh community in J&K.
Omar Abdullah emphasized the importance of strengthening the party base at the grassroots level. He called upon S. Jatinder Singh Lucky and other newly joined members to actively participate in public forums and address the general issues facing the people of Jammu & Kashmir.
Omar Abdullah highlighted the significance of being accessible to the public and urged the new members to remain visible in their communities, listening to the grievances of the people and working towards finding solutions. He reiterated the National Conference’s commitment to democracy, secularism, and communal harmony, stressing that by actively engaging with the public and addressing their concerns, the party can further solidify its support base and contribute to the betterment of the region. Shafqat Watali, in initiating the proceedings, introduced S. Jatinder Singh Lucky and his associates to the senior party leadership, emphasizing the importance of uniting the people of Jammu & Kashmir to uphold democracy and secularism in the region. Expressing gratitude, S. Jatinder Singh Lucky thanked Jnb. Omar Abdullah and the entire senior leadership of NC for welcoming him into the National Conference. He highlighted various issues of the Jammu region, particularly addressing discrimination against the minority Sikh community, unemployment, and the political uncertainty prevailing since August 5, 2019.
S. Jatinder Singh Lucky also lauded the contributions of Sh. Budh Singh Tyagi, S.H.S Azad, S. Harbans Singh, S.H.S. Bali, and S. T.S. Wazir in NC, pledging to strengthen the party at the grassroots level. Those who joined the party fold included S. Charan Jeet Singh, S. Mohinder Singh, S. Iqbal Singh, Sunita Kour, Surjeet Singh, Pritam Singh, Sh. Jagdish Kumar, S. Surinder Singh, S. Harmanjeet Singh, and other prominent personalities from various corners of Jammu.
