Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Workers meeting OBC Cell at Udhampur under the chairmanship of Abdul Gani Teli Chairman OBC Cell and Dr. Bashir Veeri former MLA was the Chief Guest. The meeting was organized by Ch. Mohd Gani, Anayatullah District President OBC Cell Udhampur and Capt. Pavitar Singh.
While addressing a workers meeting Dr. Bashir Veeri said that the present govt has miserably failed to protect the rights of Other Backward Classes (OBC).
He said that there is no one in the administration to look into the burning issues of downtrodden including OBC’s and moreover they are being treated quite shabbily under the present regime.
Veeri said that the BJP promised the moon but all the promises proved to be merely hollow slogans. He said that there has been no development on ground about which the government has been making tall claims. In fact the people are decrying for basic amenities, he added.
Addressing the party workers, Mr Abdul Gani Teli expressed great disappointment against the J&K administration for pursing anti-poor policies, stating that it has callously ignored the interests of Other Backward Class population.
Teli enumerated the initiatives taken by the successive National Conference Governments in ameliorating the lot of weaker sections, especially Other Backward Class segment of the society. He also recalled the contribution of Sher –e- Kashmir Sheikh Mohd Abdullah towards upliftment and welfare of Other Backward Class segment and said that literacy and socio-economic emancipation got impetus during his tenure and the successive National Conference governments.
On this occasion several prominent workers of the BJP joined the National Conference and reposed their faith in its policies and programmes.
Those who joined the party included Romesh Chander , Bishan Dass, Thakur Dass, Isher Dass, Ration Chand, Beli Ram, Kaka Ram, Raj Kumar, Puran Chand, Froj Din, Tej Din, Mohd Shafi, Mohd Hussain, Neik Mohd, Mohd Sharief, Shan Mohd, Kaku Din, Babu Din, Jamal Din, Mohd Rafiq, Kalasho Devi, Lajya Devi, Renu Devi, Maknoo Devi, Sema Devi, Rita Devi, Geeta Devi, Sushma Kumari, Vimla Kumari, Sardra Begum, Sonu Begum, Gulzar Begum, Saleema Begum, Sabnam Bibi and Jeetan Begum.
Those who were present in the meeting included:- Capt Balbir Singh, Ch Rashid, Molvi Zakir Hussain, Mohd Rafiq and others .
