Prof. J P Singh Joorel from the Department of Statistics, University of Jammu today assumed charge as Rector Bhaderwah Campus
The outgoing rector Prof. Rahul Gupta served the institution diligently while making significant contributions to the development of Bhaderwah Campus during his tenure. On this occasion, Bhaderwah Campus staff expressed their gratitude for his dedicated services.
As per an official communication, University of Jammu appointed Prof. J P Singh Joorel as new Rector of Bhaderwah Campus relieving Prof. Rahul Gupta from the additional charge.
The communique said, “Prof. Joorel brings with him a wealth of experience in administration, having served as the Head of the Department of Statistics for more than five years.”
Upon assuming charge, Prof. J P Singh Joorel engaged with the teaching and non-teaching staff, leaving an indelible impression with his inspiring words. He urged everyone to work with honesty and dedication, fostering a collective commitment to the upliftment of Bhaderwah Campus, it added.
“His extensive career includes leadership roles such as the Director (VC Rank) of the INFLIBNET Centre in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, an Autonomous Inter-University Centre of the University Grants Commission, where he served for five years. Presently a Professor of Statistics at the University of Jammu, Prof. Joorel boasts a remarkable 37 years of experience in teaching, research and administration,” communication claimed stating,
“Prof. Joorel has a robust academic background, having served at various esteemed institutions such as Jammu University, Dr Y S Parmar University of Horticulture & Forestry, Solan, HP, Panjab University, Chandigarh, Agra University (Agra College), and U P Government. He has supervised twenty-five Ph.D. and M.Phil students, published approximately 100 research papers in reputed journals, authored book chapters and presentation at international/national conferences”. Beyond his university roles, Prof. Joorel has made valuable contributions to the academic community, serving on the Council of “The Indian Statistical Institute” and Governing Bodies of several Autonomous Colleges. He has been a member of important committees and boards, including the ICT Committee of NAAC, Academic Council of Consortium of Educational Communication (Inter-University Centre of UGC), Empowered Committee of UGC-CARE, and more, it further added.
Additionally, Prof. Joorel has been member of search committees responsible for the appointment of Vice-Chancellors in various universities.
