DOGRA HERALD BUREAU
JAMMU, Jan 10
LIC Class-1 officers, under the banner of the Federation of LIC CLASS-1 OFFICERS’ Association, led by its Secretary Vijay Khajuria, President Com. Jatinder Bhat; Development officers, under the banner of NFIFWI led by its President, Sh. Rakesh Magotra, and LIC Class-3&4 employees under the banner of Northern Zone Insurance Employees’ Association, led by Divisional Secretary Comrade Pawan Gupta and Joint sec Rajesh Gupta, observed a ‘ONE HOUR WALK-OUT STRIKE’ preceding lunch recess across LIC offices of Jammu & Kashmir in support of their long-pending demands.
This strike in LIC was observed by LIC employees all over India. On this occasion, LIC employees held massive demonstrations at D.O.Cell Jammu. Speaking on the occasion at D.O.Cell Jammu before a large gathering, the leaders showed strong resentment against the central Govt. for not increasing the Corporation’s contribution in NPS FROM 10% TO 14% in spite of the fact that the LIC Board has already recommended it to the Ministry of Finance for a long time.
The employees pressed that this demand be met immediately, seeing the gross injustice to the employees appointed on or after 01-04-2010 who are under NPS. The wage revision of LIC employees has also been pending since 1st of August 2022; the charter has been submitted with the Management, but no negotiations have started till now.
The demonstration emphasized the demand to start the negotiations on wage revision at the earliest as more than one year has already elapsed since the wage revision had been due. It was also demanded strongly for immediate recruitment in all cadres, seeing to the fact that the volume of work has been increasing day by day; and there is a continuous decrease in the number of employees due to retirements. The leaders strongly condemned the unilateral attitude of the management and warned of intensified agitation in reaction to it. Similar demonstrations were held at D.O. Srinagar in leadership of Amarjeet Singh, Syed Aadil, Prince Umar Raffique, Imitiaz Ah Kar, Ajaz Ah. Dar. Javed Bukhari, and others.
Others who spoke – Shreshtha Sharma, Priya Sharma, Shunali Gupta, Swati Sharma, Neeraj Bhagat, Raj Kumar Sharma, Dinesh Kumar Sharma, Gagan Langer, Rajesh Gupta, Rajesh Kumar, Raj Kumar, Dharminder Kumar, Nanak Chand, and others.
